Thakadu Bush Camp offers an authentic safari experience in Botswana, situated on the banks of the Khwai River within the Khwai Concession area. We are looking for a talented, energetic, and professional Assistant Camp Manager to support the Camp Managers in daily operations and assumes full responsibility in their absence. The successful candidate will ensure the comfort and needs of guests are met in camp as well as striving to exceed all expectations.
Meet, greet, and brief guests on the Camp and its facilities
Be the main point of contact for guests throughout their stay in conjunction with the Camp managers
Take guests on a tour of the Camp facilities and showing them to their accommodation
Assist with accommodation allocation for guests prior to their arrival
Handle guests queries or complaints and resolve in an appropriate manner
Ensure all guests issues pertaining to guests satisfaction are met and that follow up is completed on a timely basis
Any other reasonable duties as instructed by senior management
Ensure all staff perform their duties in line with company standards
Assist in ensuring that the bar is stocked daily
Check the main Camp area, curio shop and facilities for cleanliness
Check furniture and fittings are clean and organise repairs for broken fittings and furniture
Ensure table settings, cutlery, glassware, and crockery is clean and set correctly for all means.
Ensure food is displayed, stored, and served hygienically
Ensure that exceptional standards of customer service are adhered to by all staff all the times
Assist with serving meals to guests as required
Ensure adequate stocks of cutlery, crockery and glassware and table settings are in stock
Assist to manage and supervise the housekeeping department and its staff to ensure it is functioning effectively and efficiently at all times
Ensure housekeeping standards are met at all times through supervision and training
Conduct room checks on a daily basis to ensure standards are maintained
Organise repairs for broken furniture and fittings
Assist in the management of all staff in line with Company objectives and performance levels
Issue staff with daily tasks and check completion of tasks
Make a recommendation for additional training where required
Resolve staff issues
Manage poor performing staff with the assistance of the Camp Managers
Complete monthly attendance registers with deduction allocated
Assist in monitoring food standards and liaise with the Camp managers if any adjustments need to be made.
Assist in serving clients meals when ready to serve and help ensure the uninterrupted flow of meals and orders
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience and strong operation in hospitality or similar field, two of which were holding a supervisory position directing a multi-level
2 years’ experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest relations, front of house, housekeeping, or related professional area
Strong communication and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Well-groomed and presentable
