Assistant Tasting Room Manager | Luxury Hotel | Cape Town

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Tasting Room Manager for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional with strong wine and service knowledge to support the leadership of a premium tasting room environment and contribute to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing daily operations, supporting team leadership, and ensuring high standards of service, sales performance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing daily cellar door and tasting room operations to maintain premium service standards
  • Supporting the management, training, and scheduling of tasting room staff
  • Assisting with stock control, sales reconciliation, and cash management processes
  • Ensuring strong guest service delivery and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Supporting the coordination and hosting of special events and functions
  • Assisting with local marketing initiatives and relationship building with partners and stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate administration, reporting, and operational records
  • Supporting the Tasting Room Manager with staff development and team leadership
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures
  • Overseeing cleanliness, presentation, and readiness of all guest areas
  • Assisting with cash-ups, handovers, and financial controls
  • Supporting general operational duties to ensure smooth daily functioning of the tasting room

Requirements:

  • Matric and a Hospitality Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within a wine or hospitality environment
  • WSET or wine-related qualification advantageous
  • Strong understanding of wine, service standards, and guest experience delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Leadership potential with a proactive and hands-on approach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment

Package:

  • Salary negotiable depending on experience
  • Live-out position
