Assistant Tasting Room Manager | Luxury Hotel | Cape Town
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Tasting Room Manager for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional with strong wine and service knowledge to support the leadership of a premium tasting room environment and contribute to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing daily operations, supporting team leadership, and ensuring high standards of service, sales performance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily cellar door and tasting room operations to maintain premium service standards
- Supporting the management, training, and scheduling of tasting room staff
- Assisting with stock control, sales reconciliation, and cash management processes
- Ensuring strong guest service delivery and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Supporting the coordination and hosting of special events and functions
- Assisting with local marketing initiatives and relationship building with partners and stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate administration, reporting, and operational records
- Supporting the Tasting Room Manager with staff development and team leadership
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures
- Overseeing cleanliness, presentation, and readiness of all guest areas
- Assisting with cash-ups, handovers, and financial controls
- Supporting general operational duties to ensure smooth daily functioning of the tasting room
Requirements:
- Matric and a Hospitality Diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within a wine or hospitality environment
- WSET or wine-related qualification advantageous
- Strong understanding of wine, service standards, and guest experience delivery
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities
- High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Leadership potential with a proactive and hands-on approach
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
