Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Handling litigation matters relating to intellectual property disputes;
- Managing trademark searches, applications, oppositions, refusals, renewals, assignments, and related filings;
- Advising clients on copyright, trademark, patent, and brand protection matters;
- Drafting pleadings, legal opinions, written submissions, letters, and other legal documents;
- Representing clients before the courts, tribunals, and relevant regulatory bodies;
- Responding to queries, objections, and refusals issued by relevant intellectual property authorities;
- Conducting legal research and providing practical, commercially focused legal advice;
- Liaising with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Been called to the Bar and be in good standing;
- A minimum of 5 years’ post-call experience;
- Demonstrable experience in litigation and intellectual property practice;
- Practical knowledge of trademark registration, opposition proceedings, refusals, copyrights, and patents;
- Strong drafting, research, advocacy, and analytical skills;
- Excellent communication and client management skills;
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Candidates with strong hands-on experience in intellectual property filings and IP-related disputes will have an added advantage.
