Job Summary
- The behaviour change & SBCC specialist will provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of behaviour change interventions aimed at influencing positive attitudes, social norms, and practices among target populations. The successful candidate will apply behavioural science principles, audience insights, and strategic communication approaches to develop evidence-based interventions that support programme objectives across sectors including health, education, livelihoods, governance, financial inclusion, gender, youth development, agriculture, climate resilience, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
Behavioural Research & Insights
- Lead formative research, behavioural assessments, audience segmentation, and stakeholder analysis activities
- Identify behavioural barriers, motivators, social norms, and environmental factors influencing target behaviours
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to generate actionable insights for programme design
- Translate research findings into practical behaviour change strategies and interventions
Behaviour Change Strategy Development
- Design and implement evidence-based behaviour change strategies and frameworks
- Develop theories of change, behavioural pathways, and intervention models aligned with programme objectives
- Integrate behavioural science principles into programme design and implementation
Provide technical guidance on behaviour change methodologies and best practices
Social and Behaviour Change Communication SBCC
- Develop communication strategies, messaging frameworks, campaigns, and engagement plans
- Design communication materials and tools tailored to diverse audiences and contexts
- Support the development of multimedia, digital, interpersonal, and community-based communication interventions
- Ensure communication products are culturally appropriate, gender-responsive, and audience-centred
Capacity Building & Technical Support
- Facilitate training programmes, workshops, and learning sessions for project teams and stakeholders
- Build the capacity of implementing partners and frontline personnel on behaviour change and SBCC approaches
- Provide ongoing technical assistance during programme implementatio
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- Support the development of behaviour change indicators and measurement frameworks
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, learning, and adaptive management processes
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and evidence of impact
Educational Qualifications
- Master's degree in Behavioural Science, Public Health, Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 7 years experience in behaviour change programming, SBCC, public awareness campaigns, or related fields
- Proven experience designing and implementing behaviour change interventions across development or commercial sectors
- Strong understanding of behavioural science theories, social norms approaches, and audience-centred communication
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and translating findings into programme design
- Demonstrated experience developing communication strategies, campaigns, and behaviour change materials
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and partnership management skills
- Excellent report writing, communication, presentation, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
