For appointment to this position, a candidate should possess a business- related degree Accounting/Finance option or in Co-operative Management with at least 7 years’ experience in a similar position. The candidate should possess relevant professional qualifications CPA K. The position will be on a five years contract.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors, he/she will be in charge of all the departments i.e. Finance, Marketing and Business Development, Customer Services/Care, Projects, ICT, Credit and Risk.

- To provide overall Management and strategic direction towards achievement of the Society’s objectives and goals as laid down in the Society’s Strategic Plan.

- Formulation and implementing policies and strategies or the Society’s effective operations
- Providing Strategic Direction and Leadership to the Board of Directors on policies and Compliance
- Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial and impact performance against stated milestones and goals
- Collaborate with the Board to refine and implement the Strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff and priorities are aligned with the SACCO Mission and Vision.
- Provide inspirational leadership and direction to executives, and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization; establish effective decision making processes that will enable the SACCO to achieve its long and short-term goals and objectives.
- Continuously lead an aggressive membership recruitment drive.
- Directing and coordinating all plans and performance targets.
- Carrying out day to day business of the SACCO-Including regular support supervision of staff at work stations and ensure regular rotations of staff.
- Developing and recommending to the Board of Directors the long term strategy, business plans, and Annual Operating budgets; and establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems and procedures.
- Ensuring that there is effective communication between the Board and staff.
- Attending to Human Resource matters including organizational structures, appointments, welfare, training, industrial relations, separation and effective management succession plans.
- Ensuring continuous improvements in the quality and value of services provided by the SACCO.
- Ensuring continuous achievement of the SACCO’s financial and operating goals and objectives and ensuring Quarterly reporting of internal auditor reports and recommendations.
- Overseeing and ensuring implementations of SACCO policies and programmes
- Ensuring compliance with the SACCO rules and regulations and government laws
- Steering the SACCO to deliver its current Strategic Plan and ensuring quarterly progress reports.
Person Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance/Accounting or Co-operative
- Management, any other related relevant field.
- CPAK and a member of ICPAK.
- At least 7 years relevant experience with 5 years’ experience at a
- Senior Management level in a Financial Institution.
- Compliant with Chapter Six 6 of the Kenyan constitution
- Masters’ degree in Finance/Accounting will be an added advantage.
- 2 years experience in a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society
- Management will be an added advantage.
