Wealthnet Finance PLC is a Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution licensed by the Reserve Bank of Malawi. The institution is seeking visionary, innovative, and community-focused professionals to serve as Community Based Financial Organisation Officers across selected districts in Malawi.

Job Overview

The Community Based Financial Organisation Officers will implement field-based programs focused on community engagement, digital adoption, and financial inclusion. The role involves mobilizing communities, supporting Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), cooperatives, and other community-based financial organisations while promoting Wealthnet Finance’s products and digital services.

The Role

Successful candidates will facilitate community development initiatives, promote digital financial services, strengthen local partnerships, and support the growth of community-based financial organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Community Mobilization and CBFO Development

  • Implement community-based financial programs in assigned areas.
  • Mobilize and engage VSLAs, cooperatives, farmer organizations, and other community groups.
  • Conduct community sensitization and awareness campaigns.
  • Deliver training on governance, financial management, savings mobilization, loan management, record keeping, and business development.
  • Facilitate linkages between community groups and Wealthnet Finance products and services.
  • Coordinate with local leaders to support smooth program implementation.

User Growth and Digital Adoption

  • Drive onboarding and activation of digital financial services.
  • Increase active usage and transaction participation through digital platforms.
  • Promote adoption of digital channels in rural and semi-urban communities.
  • Identify barriers to digital service usage and recommend practical solutions.

Merchant Engagement

  • Recruit and support local merchants.
  • Promote digital payment acceptance.
  • Strengthen relationships between merchants and community members.
  • Support growth in transaction volumes through continuous engagement.

Performance and Revenue Support

  • Contribute to the growth of transaction-based revenue.
  • Monitor field performance indicators and transaction activity.
  • Report field performance trends and operational challenges.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the liaison between communities and Wealthnet Finance.
  • Build strong relationships with community leaders and partner organizations.
  • Resolve field-level issues and escalate challenges when necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with head office teams.

Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports on field activities.
  • Submit accurate monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Provide recommendations for improving field performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:

  • Economics
  • Business Administration
  • Banking and Finance
  • Microfinance and Entrepreneurship
  • Agricultural Economics
  • Agriculture Extension
  • Agribusiness Management
  • Agricultural Education
  • Agricultural Extension

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years’ practical experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Community mobilization
  • Cooperative or VSLA management
  • Rural or agricultural finance
  • Microfinance
  • Capacity building and training for community-based organizations

Required Skills

  • Strong training and facilitation skills.
  • Curriculum development experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments.
  • Basic understanding of digital financial services will be an added advantage.
