Customs Officer

Job Profile
We are looking for a dynamic Customs
Officer who will ensure the lawful, efficient and timely clearance of
imported and exported goods by coordinating customs clearance operations,
ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and facilitating the smooth
movement of goods through effective liaison with customs authorities, service
providers and internal departments.
Role & Responsibilities
• Process
import and export bill of entries (both airfreight and sea freight)
• Liaise
with freight forwarders, customs authorities, shipping lines and other parties
to ensure smooth clearance of goods
• Classify
goods according to tariff coding system
• Assist
during customs audits and ensure availability of required documents
• Handle
post-clearance amendments, refunds, penalties and reassessments where
applicable
• Monitor
regulatory updates and communicate changes affecting import/export
operations
• Ensure
compliance with Customs Act, VAT regulations and other applicable trade laws
• Process
Bill of Entry for export and apply for any permits/certificates required
• Liaise
with the Accounts Department for payments related freight, customs duties,
demurrage, storage and
other logistics costs
• Any
other cognate duties may be assigned by the Head of Department
Qualifications & Experience
• Higher School Certificate (HSC) or
equivalent qualification
• A
qualification in Customs Administration, International Trade, Logistics or
Supply Chain
Management would be an advantage
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in
customs clearance procedures, declarations, and compliance
Knowledge, Skills & Attitude
• Proven knowledge of customs legislation
and ability to resolve operational issues
• Proficiency in MNS Tradenet system (or equivalent customs
electronic processing system) and relevant computer
applications
• Strong integrity with ability to handle
confidential information.
• Ability
to work effectively in a team and under pressure
• Good
verbal communication skills in English and French (both written and
spoken)
• Proficient in
MS tools
• Good time
management and organisation skills
• Valid driving
licence for private car
