Diesel Mechanic

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct repairs, servicing and maintenance on diesel vehicles and equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance
• Attend to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs
• Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with safety standards
• Complete job cards, inspection sheets and maintenance reports
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and adhere to health and safety procedures
• Ensure minimal downtime of fleet vehicles and equipment
• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure optimal performance
• Work closely with workshop management and other team members.

Minimum Requirements:

• Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic qualification
• Valid Code 14 driver’s licence with PrDP
• Traceable references
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience working on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Knowledge and experience working on:
  • MAN TGA
  • MAN TGS
  • Mercedes Axor
  • Drawbar trailers
• Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
• Experience working on waste management vehicles and equipment, including:
  • Skip loaders
  • Hook loaders
  • Rear-end loaders
  • Trailers
