Our client in the FMCG industry is seeking reliable and customer-focused Driver Assistants to join their team on a contract basis. The successful candidates will support the delivery driver with the safe and efficient loading, transportation, and delivery of goods while ensuring all delivery documentation is accurately completed.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in FMCG or distribution, be physically fit, possess strong administrative skills relating to delivery documentation, and be committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the driver with daily loading and offloading of delivery vehicles.
  • Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
  • Verify stock against delivery documentation before dispatch and upon delivery.
  • Obtain customer signatures on delivery notes, invoices, and waybills.
  • Accurately complete and process delivery documentation, including waybills, proof of delivery (PODs), invoices, and delivery records.
  • Report shortages, damaged goods, returns, or delivery discrepancies to the relevant department.
  • Assist with stock checks and vehicle loading to ensure correct quantities are dispatched.
  • Deliver excellent customer service during every customer interaction.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers and colleagues.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the delivery vehicle.
  • Adhere to company policies, road safety requirements, and health and safety regulations.
  • Perform any additional duties required to support delivery operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) (essential).
  • Previous experience as a Driver Assistant within an FMCG, wholesale, retail, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • Experience completing delivery administration, including waybills, proof of delivery (PODs), invoices, and related documentation.
  • Good numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Physically fit and capable of loading and offloading goods throughout the working day.
  • Available to start immediately.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Contactable employment references.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays when operationally required.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Understanding of delivery routes and logistics operations.
  • Experience handling FMCG products.
  • Knowledge of delivery documentation and administrative processes.
  • Familiarity with stock handling and inventory control procedures.
  • Understanding of customer service standards within a delivery environment.
  • Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques.
  • Basic computer literacy will be advantageous.
