Electrical & Instrumentation Assistant (Contractor)
Onshore Oil & Gas Installation & Commissioning Projects
Our client is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Assistant (Contractor) to support installation commissioning activities on onshore oil & gas projects. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to candidates who are physically fit, safety conscious, and comfortable working at heights in industrial environments.
The successful candidate will assist Senior Technicians and Engineers with radar systems, flow meters, weighing systems, instrumentation installation, cable routing, and general site support activities across industrial facilities and tank farms.
Key Responsibilities
Installation Support
- Assist with laying and routing of electrical and instrumentation cables
- Support cable glanding and termination preparation
- Assist with installation of radar level equipment
- Support installation of flow meters and weighing systems
- Assist with mounting field instrumentation and associated hardware
- Carry tools, materials, and equipment as required
- Assist with basic electrical and mechanical site activities
Site Support & Commissioning
- Support Senior Technicians during commissioning activities
- Assist with equipment inspections and verification
- Maintain housekeeping and safe work areas
- Follow project procedures and site instructions
- Assist with loading and unloading of project materials
Working at Heights
- Climb storage tanks approximately 10–20 metres high
- Work at elevated positions for extended periods when required
- Utilize fall protection equipment correctly at all times
- Follow all working-at-heights procedures and safety requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Basic electrical or electronic knowledge
- Basic hand tool experience
- Ability to follow technical instructions
- Good physical fitness and mobility
- Ability to work outdoors in industrial environments
- Comfortable working safely at heights
- Strong awareness of workplace safety
Oil & Gas Safety Requirements
Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Follow oil & gas HSE procedures and policies
- Work within permit-to-work systems
- Attend toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Use PPE correctly at all times
- Maintain safe working practices on site
Work Environment
Projects may be conducted at:
- Tank farms
- Oil & gas terminals
- Industrial process facilities
- Remote onshore project locations
Contract Details
- Project-based contractor role
- Estimated duration: 20–40 days depending on project requirements
- International travel may be required
