ZB Financial Holdings is inviting applications for an experienced and results-oriented ESG & Sustainability Officer to join the Group Strategy team.

Main Purpose Of The Job

The incumbent will play a key role in driving the Group’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda by embedding sustainability principles into business operations, strengthening stakeholder confidence, and supporting the achievement of the Group’s long-term strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and enhance sustainability policies, frameworks, and programmes in line with regulatory requirements, international ESG standards, and the Group’s One ZB strategic direction.
Drive the implementation of sustainability initiatives that enhance corporate reputation, stakeholder trust, brand equity, and long-term value creation.
Oversee the implementation of ESG & Sustainability standards and strategies.
Lead the Bank & Group in ensuring renewal of SSCI certification and guide other One ZB units seeking sustainability certifications.
Lead and coordinate materiality assessment processes to identify, evaluate, and prioritise key sustainability matters for strategic planning and stakeholder reporting.
Conduct sustainability and climate-related risk assessments and support the integration of ESG risks into the Group’s enterprise risk management framework.

Develop and implement sustainability risk management frameworks, monitoring tools, and reporting mechanisms.
Coordinate the preparation of sustainability disclosures and reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual ESG reporting, ensuring alignment with applicable reporting standards and stakeholder expectations.
Manage relationships with external sustainability consultants, development partners, and assurance providers to support ESG reporting, due diligence, and sustainability initiatives.
Embed sustainability principles into employee onboarding, induction, and people development processes to cultivate a sustainability-driven culture across the Group.
Design and facilitate sustainability awareness and training programmes for employees at all levels, including Executive Management and non-managerial staff.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, NGOs, civil society organisations, development finance institutions, suppliers, customers, and industry bodies.
Monitor emerging ESG trends, regulatory developments, and best practices to ensure the Group remains proactive and competitive in sustainability management.

Qualifications & Experience
A minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Sustainable Finance, Economics or a related field.
Professional certification in Sustainability, ESG, Climate Risk, or related disciplines (e.g. GRI, ISO Sustainability Standards, ESG certifications ESG certifications) will be an added advantage.
A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, risk management, strategy, or related fields, preferably within financial services or a corporate environment

Key Competencies
Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement, report writing, and presentation skills.
Sound understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting standards, climate risk management, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
