Responsibilities:
Embedded Financial Co-Piloting & Strategy:
- Runway & Cash Management: Maintain real-time visibility into each ME's cash position.
- Help ME leaders: Manage their internal funding, tracking incoming revenue against operating expenses to forecast runway.
- Unit Economics Optimisation: Work side-by-side with ME leaders to analyze the profitability of their specific products, services, or projects.
- Help them price their offerings to ensure healthy margins.
- Scenario Planning: Build lightweight, agile financial models to help ME leaders answer questions like "Can we afford to hire another developer next month?"* or *"What happens to our margin if we drop our price by 10%?
Ecosystem Accounting & Internal Transactions:
- Internal Ledger Management: Oversee the day-to-day bookkeeping and ledger maintenance for your assigned MEs using our automated platform tools.
- Transfer Pricing & Settlement: Track and execute transactions between different MEs and settle the platform service fees owed back to the parent group.
- P&L Ownership: Produce accurate, weekly/monthly profit-and-loss statements for each micro-enterprise, ensuring every cost and revenue stream is properly attributed.
Guardrail Compliance & Reporting:
- Early Warning Systems: Monitor MEs against group financial guardrails (e.g., minimum margin requirements, maximum loss thresholds).
- Alert both the ME Leader and the Head of Finance if a unit is trending toward a risk zone.
- Group Roll-Up: Clean and prepare the ME’s financial data for seamless consolidation into the parent group's overarching financial statements.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on accounting or financial management experience. Backgrounds in startup finance, fractional accounting agencies, or divisional accounting are highly valued.
- You can look at a complex ledger and translate it into simple, actionable business advice for an internal founder who may not be "numbers people."
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities. You prefer building dynamic tracking sheets over filling out rigid corporate bureaucratic forms
- Strong proficiency with modern cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online, or scalable ERPs) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
A Typical Week in This Role Might Look Like:
- Monday: Reviewing the weekly P&L flash report with an ME Leader to see if their new marketing spend translated to profitable growth.
- Wednesday: Reconciling internal transfer bills between two MEs that partnered on a client project.
- Friday: Modelling out a new profit-sharing distribution for an ME team that just hit their quarterly milestone, then reporting the data up to the group head of finance.
The Core Shift:
- In a traditional company, a controller enforces strict, pre-approved line-item budgets.
- In our model, you don't enforce budget, you manage cash runway and unit economics.
- If an ME is profitable and has the cash, they can spend it.
- Your job is to make sure they know exactly how much they have and where it's going.
