Main Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership & Governance
- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned to the SACCO's strategic plan, cooperative principles, and SASRA requirements.
- Provide strategic HR advisory support to Management and the Board through reports, dashboards, and Committee and Board papers.
- Lead workforce planning and succession planning to ensure long-term talent sustainability and business continuity.
- Drive a high-performance, ethical, and member-centric culture aligned to the SACCO's values and code of conduct.
- Oversee leadership development, talent management, and succession pipeline initiatives.
- Advise management and line managers on HR best practices, employee relations, and change management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan labour laws, SASRA guidelines, internal HR policies, and fit-and-proper requirements.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HR effectiveness, operational efficiency, and staff engagement.
Human Resource Oversight & People Management
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, deployment, and exits in line with approved staff establishment and budget.
- Own and manage the performance management framework, including appraisal systems, KPIs, and PIP governance.
- Approve training needs analysis outcomes and annual training plans.
- Oversee employee relations, disciplinary, grievance, and dispute resolution frameworks.
- Approve compensation structures, benefits frameworks, and payroll-related HR controls in liaison with Finance.
HR Systems, Reporting & Audit Support
- Provide oversight of HR and Administration systems ERP, staff portal, leave systems and automation initiatives.
- Prepare periodic HR and Administration reports for Management, Committees, and the Board.
- Oversee implementation of internal and external audit recommendations relating to HR and Administration.
4. Administration & Facilities Management
- Oversee office administration, facilities management, and general office cleanliness across all SACCO premises.
- Ensure availability of adequate office supplies, equipment, and utilities to support uninterrupted operations.
- Oversee coordination of security, cleaning, transport, and other outsourced support services.
- Provide oversight of office administration, facilities management, and occupational health and safety compliance.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or Industrial Relations. Knowledge of relevant ERP systems will be an added advantage.
Professional Certification
- Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management
- Must be a CHRP Certified Human Resource Professional
- Must be a Full and Practicing member of IHRM or CIPD
Experience
A minimum of 8 years working experience, with at least 5 years in an HR management role. Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour laws, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance.
