Role Purpose

The Instructor will provide both classroom and practical training in component inspection, repair, rebuilding, and remanufacturing processes. The role involves preparing training materials, assessing learners, and supporting the development of technical skills in trainees and apprentices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom and practical training in component inspection, repair, rebuilding, and remanufacturing processes.
  • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and practical exercises.
  • Teach trainees how to inspect, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and test mechanical components and systems.
  • Provide training in quality control, measurement techniques, technical documentation, and maintenance best practices.
  • Demonstrate the safe use of tools, equipment, testing devices, and workshop machinery.
  • Supervise practical workshop activities and troubleshooting exercises.
  • Teach problem-solving, failure analysis, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Assess trainee performance through tests, practical exercises, and assignments.
  • Maintain accurate training, assessment, and quality records.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to trainees.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and training requirements.
  • Support the review and continuous improvement of training programs and materials.
  • Work closely with industry partners and workplace mentors to support practical learning.
  • Participate in evaluations, audits, and quality assurance activities.

Work Environment

  • Primarily based in training workshops, classrooms, and laboratories.
  • May involve occasional visits to industrial sites or field locations.
  • Requires supervising practical activities and working around heavy equipment and workshop machinery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Teaching or instructor qualification is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, component repair, and remanufacturing processes.
  • Good teaching, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to coach and mentor trainees.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and inspection practices.
  • Ability to assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital training tools is an advantage.

Preferred Certifications

  • Instructor or trainer certification.
  • Occupational health and safety certification.
  • Assessor or competency evaluation certification.
  • Additional certifications in inspection, quality control, diagnostics, or equipment maintenance are an advantage.

Experience

  • Several years of practical experience in equipment maintenance, component repair, remanufacturing, manufacturing, or related technical fields.
  • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience is an advantage.
