The Role
We are looking for an Intermediate Billing Operations Engineer to join this growing infrastructure team. This is a hands-on technical role sitting at the heart of how the business bills its customers and manages its carrier relationships. You will own the billing systems — keeping them running, accurate, and optimised — while working closely with Finance, IT, and Product teams to make sure revenue flows correctly and nothing falls through the cracks.

What You Will Be Doing
- Building and refining mediation rules and usage flows in the billing system
- Analysing call rating, margins, and customer charges to ensure accuracy
- Managing and optimising national and international carrier routes and costs
- Attending to month-end billing and resolving any issues that arise
- Investigating and resolving carrier disputes and irregularities
- Auditing new products and plans and implementing the correct rating
- Identifying and closing revenue leakage gaps
- Maintaining and optimising billing servers and databases
- Managing product catalogues, call charge rates, and prefix lists
- Leading or contributing to billing system migrations and integrations
- Developing reports, documentation, and process improvements
- Supporting internal and external stakeholders with queries and escalations
What We Are Looking For- 5 to 7 years of experience in a VoIP or telco billing role within a service provider environment
- 5 to 7 years of hands-on Linux/Unix experience
- 5 to 7 years working with SQL databases — you must be comfortable writing and troubleshooting queries
- Intermediate Python or Perl scripting skills
- Solid understanding of both fixed and variable billing models
- Experience with carrier management, reconciliation, and interconnect billing
- Experience integrating billing systems with accounting packages or middleware
- Strong analytical skills — you must be able to work through large amounts of data accurately and confidently
- Good communication skills — written and verbal — for internal and vendor engagement
- Highly organised, process-driven, and self-managed
Advantageous- Experience with billing system migrations
- Familiarity with BSS/OSS environments
- Revenue assurance background
- A relevant degree or diploma
