Employment Information

Maintenance Specialist required for an automotive company based in Durban

Requirements:

  • Must be in possession of a school leaving Certificate
  • Must be a trade tested Millwright/Fitter/ Electrician essential
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role preferable automotive industry
  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Must have PLC and project management experience
  • Must be willing to work excess hours when required

Maintenance Management

  • Supervise the maintenance team to achieve departmental objectives

  • Allocate labour, materials, and overtime effectively

  • Analyse planned maintenance and breakdown reports to minimise downtime

  • Diagnose plant and equipment faults and recommend improvements, upgrades, or replacements

  • Maintain registers for electrical hardware and software backups

Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Preventive Maintenance Programme

  • Update maintenance task lists, critical spares, and spares registers

  • Plan and approve scheduled maintenance, repairs, and spares requisitions

  • Supervise breakdown repairs and escalate unresolved or critical issues to management

Engineering Projects

  • Contribute to project initiation, scope definition, budgeting, and cost control

  • Plan, schedule, and manage engineering project activities

  • Supervise technical project teams to deliver objectives on time and within budget

  • Manage project risks, quality standards, and implementation outcomes

  • Oversee project administration, procurement, documentation, and reporting

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Analyse maintenance reports and identify improvement opportunities

  • Stay updated with maintenance technologies and best practices

  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives

People Management

  • Lead, coach, and supervise maintenance personnel

  • Plan workforce allocation and support recruitment and selection

  • Conduct performance assessments, coaching, and discipline management

  • Resolve grievances and maintain a productive, compliant work environment
