Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically competent Microelectronics/Communication Engineer to support the assembly, testing, deployment, and maintenance of smart electrical meters and metering systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing pre sales and after-sales technical support, conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Training for Customers, assembling meter components, and ensuring products meet the required technical and quality standards prior to deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
• Provide technical support to the sales team during customer engagements, demonstrations, and tender processes.
• Assist in preparing technical proposals, product specifications, and compliance documentation.
• Offer technical guidance to customers on smart metering products and solutions.
• Conduct product presentations and technical training sessions for customers and internal teams.
Meter Assembly & Production Support
• Assemble smart electrical meter components and related metering equipment in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the assembly and production processes.
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests for smart meters and metering systems.
• Verify product performance against customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare FAT reports and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with customers and inspectors during FAT exercises and address any observations raised.
After-Sales Support
• Provide installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for deployed metering systems.
• Investigate and resolve customer technical issues within agreed service timelines.
• Conduct site visits for inspections, diagnostics, and technical support as required.
• Prepare service reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
• Ensure products comply with applicable IEC standards, utility specifications, and company quality requirements.
• Maintain accurate technical records, test reports, and calibration documentation.
• Participate in quality audits and product improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Electronic Information, or Communication Engineering.
• Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in electrical metering, electronics manufacturing, power systems, or a related technical field.
• Experience with smart meters, AMI/AMR systems, or utility metering projects is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and quality control procedures.
• Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or eligibility for registration is an added advantage.
• Experience conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and product inspections is an added advantage.
