Duties & responsibilities.
- Service, maintain, and repair self-propelled tea harvesting machines
- Diagnose and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine faults
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns
- Servicing and repairs, including Complete Overhauls of engines, Transmission,
Cooling systems, power transmissions, cooling and other systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
- Interpret hydraulic diagrams and technical manuals
- Overhaul hydraulic pumps and motors.
- Respond promptly to field breakdowns during peak harvesting periods
- Ensure compliance with estate safety and operational standards
- Liaise with machine operators and supervisors on machine performance
- Ensure safe custody of spares, tools and equipment’s assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option) or a Craft
Certificate in Plant Mechanics.
- At least 5 years’ experience working with tractors, Plant machines and tea
harvesting machinery.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and basic electrics
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak tea seasons
Added Advantage
- Previous experience in a busy agricultural/ plant machinery setup.
- Experience with self-propelled harvesters (Valiant or Ochiai tea Harvesters)
- Valid driving licence (Class B, C, C1)
- Experience in auto electrical repairs and welding.
