Employment Information

Duties & responsibilities.

  • Service, maintain, and repair self-propelled tea harvesting machines
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine faults
  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns
  • Servicing and repairs, including Complete Overhauls of engines, Transmission, Cooling systems, power transmissions, cooling and other systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
  • Interpret hydraulic diagrams and technical manuals
  • Overhaul hydraulic pumps and motors.
  • Respond promptly to field breakdowns during peak harvesting periods
  • Ensure compliance with estate safety and operational standards
  • Liaise with machine operators and supervisors on machine performance
  • Ensure safe custody of spares, tools and equipment’s assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option) or a Craft Certificate in Plant Mechanics.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working with tractors, Plant machines and tea harvesting machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and basic electrics
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak tea seasons Added Advantage
  • Previous experience in a busy agricultural/ plant machinery setup.
  • Experience with self-propelled harvesters (Valiant or Ochiai tea Harvesters)
  • Valid driving licence (Class B, C, C1)
  • Experience in auto electrical repairs and welding.
