Pre-Sales BESS Specialist

Employment Information

  • Provide technical pre-sales support for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) solutions
  • Engage with clients to understand energy needs and propose tailored storage solutions
  • Design and develop conceptual and detailed BESS system configurations
  • Conduct feasibility studies, energy modelling, and financial analysis (ROI, LCOE, payback)
  • Support sales team with technical presentations, proposals, and tender submissions
  • Liaise with OEMs, EPC contractors, and internal engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with cost estimation, system sizing, and equipment selection
  • Stay up to date with market trends, technologies, and competitor offerings
  • Provide technical input during project handover to execution teams

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3–7 years’ experience in renewable energy, with strong exposure to BESS or solar PV + storage
  • Solid understanding of power systems, inverters, and energy storage technologies
  • Experience with energy modelling tools (e.g., Homer, PVSyst, or similar)
  • Knowledge of grid integration and utility-scale energy systems
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills

Advantageous
  • Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
  • Experience in C&I and utility-scale projects
  • Familiarity with EMS (Energy Management Systems) and SCADA
  • Exposure to hybrid systems (solar, wind, diesel, storage integration)
