Production Foreman

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise production crews to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly mining targets.
• Coordinate drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and coal extraction activities in accordance with the mine plan.
• Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to address delays or shortfalls.
• Ensure safe work practices and compliance with MHSA, company standards, and site procedures.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
• Manage equipment utilization and liaise with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
• Monitor coal quality and ensure adherence to customer and processing specifications.
• Investigate incidents, report hazards, and implement corrective actions.
• Compile and submit accurate production, safety, and shift reports.
• Mentor and develop team members to improve productivity, discipline, and safety performance.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Relevant mining qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in coal mining operations.
• At least 2 years' supervisory/foreman experience.
• Strong knowledge of mining production processes and equipment.
• Sound understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Proven leadership and people-management skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Computer literacy (MS Office and reporting systems).

Advantageous

• Open-cast coal mining experience.
• Supervisory, Shift Boss, or related mining certifications.
• Experience managing contractors and production KPIs.
