Project Engineer - Mechanical

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously
  • Design, analyse, and review technical process flow diagrams based on approved project proposals
  • Accurately capture client requirements and translate them into clear project specifications
  • Compile detailed equipment lists from project proposals and process flow diagrams
  • Provide technical input during plant layout development and detailed design phases
  • Monitor project progress and compile regular progress and status reports
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurately maintained and controlled
  • Document, track, and follow up on key actions and decisions from meetings
  • Organise, attend, and participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings
  • Review commercial documentation including proposals, quotations, and contracts, and compile technical summaries
  • Prepare collection notes and customs documentation for equipment shipments
  • Coordinate internal departments to ensure alignment with customer and project requirements
  • Identify project risks and issues and implement appropriate mitigation measures
  • Maintain and monitor project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • BTech Mechanical Engineering or BEng Mechanical Engineering or BSc Mechanical Engineering
    OR
  • BTech Project Management with strong technical engineering capability
Experience:
  • Experience within a machinery manufacturing or industrial equipment environment
  • Exposure to engineering-driven projects involving design, fabrication, and installation

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, Visio, and MS Project
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD is advantageous
  • Experience using Jira Atlassian tools is advantageous
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation control skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in a technical environment
  • Professional discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
