Summary description of the position
- You participate in the general missions of a UMIFRE: production and valorization of scientific knowledge in the human and social sciences, exchanges between French and local researchers, training of young researchers, internationalization of French research, contribution to debates of ideas in connection with with the French diplomatic and cultural network, active participation in the scientific and institutional life of the research center.
- You develop research programs in the human and social sciences within the axes of the Nigeria African Research Institute, a center placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs MEAE, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and Space MESRE and the CNRS.
Main activities
Under the authority of the Director of UMIFRE, the researcher will be responsible for:
- Participate in the scientific production of the Institute, in particular by developing field-based research involving collaborations with national and international colleagues, and by disseminating the results communications, publications in French and English.
- Work within the framework of the scientific mandate of IFRA-Nigeria which extends across all 36 states of the Nigerian federation. IFRA-Nigeria also has jurisdiction over Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Niger, Chad and Togo.
- Take part in leading research,in particular by organizing scientific events bringing together national and international researchers and students in the scientific fields of IFRA-Nigeria.
- Promote scientific partnerships with Nigerian academic institutions, with the French network in Nigeria French Institute, Alliances françaises, Embassy and with international academic institutions research laboratories, universities, grandes écoles, foundations.
- Participate in research training activities methodological workshops, Masterclasses or summer schools.
- Seek additional external funding to carry out specific research programs. Fundraising actions must be part of the researcher's individual research perspectivesbut must also concern other IFRA-Nigeria research projects submission of files to potential public and private donors, applications for ANR calls, European Union....
- Supervise and/or coordinate individual or collective research work, within the framework of IFRA-Nigeria research programs, and/or student work hosted by IFRA-Nigeria.
- Ensure, in collaboration with the Director of IFRA, the functioning of the Institute.
- Participate in the organization of scientific events to promote research.
- In the absence of the Director, the researcher project manager may be required to replace him on some of his missions.- Supervise and/or coordinate individual or collective research work, within the framework of IFRA-Nigeria research programs, and/or student work hosted by IFRA-Nigeria.

Diplomas or professional experience recommended to perform the duties
- Holder of a doctorate from a French higher education establishment or another country of the European Union, on the date of application. Experience in sub-Saharan Africa desirable. When French is not the candidate's mother tongue, a C2 certification from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR is required. Knowledge or mastery of a local language would be an asset. Knowledge of the region as well.
