What you’ll be doing
Tendering, Proposals & Engineering Support
- Schedule and prepare for Go / No-Go meetings.
- Execute mechanical engineering and design activities for proposals with the assistance of our engineering team.
- Interpret and implement client requirements, specifications, and scope documents.
- Propose original, innovative, and cost-effective alternative technical solutions.
- Compile internal cost sheets, proposals documents and address commercial and technical clarifications.
Mechanical Engineering Deliverables- Review and develop mechanical design concepts for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Prepare and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings with assistance from the drawing office.
- Prepare and review Process and Instrumentation (P&IDs) drawings with assistance from the drawing office
- Prepare and review Civil guideline drawings with assistance from the drawing office
- Prepare a packing list for transport estimations
- Compile equipment schedules and technical data sheets.
- Assist in the material selection and sizing of pumps, piping, valves, tanks, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations related to mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and client specifications.
Supplier & Commercial Coordination- Prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
- Establish supplier quotation evaluation criteria and complete technical and commercial evaluations.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding technical requirements for proposals submissions.
- Compile technical and commercial tender documentation.
- Address technical and commercial clarifications during bid evaluations and contract negotiations.
Project Handover & Client Engagement- Arrange project kick-off meetings following contract award.
- Ensure complete handover of awarded proposal to the dedicated Project Manager.
- Represent the company during site visits and meetings with potential clients when required.
- Assist with NEWGeneratorTM-related tasks and costing activities.
Sales, CRM & Marketing Support- Maintain and update HubSpot on a regular basis.
- Attend exhibition and engage with potential suppliers and clients.
Perform any other work-related tasks assigned by the direct line manager or nominated representative.
What you’ll need- BEng, BSc, or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–6 years’ relevant engineering experience, preferably with an EPC contractor in the water and wastewater treatment environment.
- Previous proposals working experience (advantageous).
- Experience in mechanical design and equipment selection for industrial projects (advantageous).
- Experience with tender submissions, RFQs, and supplier quotations (advantageous).
- Experience in costing of refurbishment work will be advantageous.
- AutoCAD experience will be advantageous.
- Strong presentation skills, particularly PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and mechanical layouts.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
- Valid South African ID.
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Valid passport.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
