QUALITY CONTROL & PRODUCTION COMPLIANCE OFFICERCape Town – Kraaifontein: Our client, an established and growing business within the food manufacturing and FMCG sector, is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Quality Control & Production Compliance Officer for a fast-paced environment. This dual-focus role bridges operational excellence, compliance, and innovation by leading the production facility in daily quality control and food safety standards, while simultaneously driving team management and New Product Development (NPD) initiatives from concept to launch to fuel company growth and market trends. Purpose of the Role: To oversee and optimise daily production operations and quality control functions, ensuring strict compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP standards. This position bridges operational excellence and innovation by managing compliance teams, reducing waste, driving continuous improvement, and leading New Product Development (NPD) from concept to successful market launch.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • QC & Compliance: Lead the Quality Control department, conduct routine inspections of raw materials/finished goods, maintain HACCP/GMP standards, and manage regulatory audits
  • Operational Support: Assist in production scheduling, resolve bottlenecks, monitor yields and wastage, and ensure machinery is maintained to hygiene standards
  • NPD Leadership: Research market trends, lead formulation trials, conduct sensory/shelf-life testing, and manage technical documentation and costing models
  • Team Management: Train production and QC staff on SOPs, foster accountability, and collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, procurement, and warehouse teams
  • Reporting & Improvement: Maintain precise production, quality, and compliance records while driving cost-saving and efficiency initiatives
Criteria
  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or a related manufacturing discipline
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience within an FMCG food production, manufacturing, or quality management environment
  • NPD Track Record: Proven experience driving New Product Development projects successfully from concept to commercial launch
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of quality assurance, quality control, food safety, HACCP, GMP, and local regulatory frameworks
  • Leadership & Skills: Strong team management abilities, analytical problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and proficiency in production reporting systems
  • Language Proficiency: Read, speak and write English and Afrikaans
