Position: Quality Technician
Reports to: Quality Manager & Quality Assurance Assistant
Position Summary:
The Quality Technician supports quality assurance and food safety processes to ensure chia and sesame seeds meet required standards. The role involves monitoring control points, conducting inspections and tests, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with HACCP, SOPs, and certification requirements while supporting continuous improvement in product quality and hygiene.
Roles and Responsibilities
● Participate in the approval and management of seeds, packaging, and chemical suppliers
● Receive, check, and accept seeds or materials in accordance with acceptance criteria and specifications
● Ensure processing SOPs are followed, and work instructions for staff are maintained at required locations.
● Conduct accurate monitoring for processing control points and Final product seeds as required and report monitoring status of Control Points to designated personnel to initiate prompt corrections/ corrective actions for any deviations
● Prepare seed samples for external laboratory testing and conduct internal rapid laboratory analyses and tests on the seeds.
● Conduct pre-loading inspections of containers and outgoing seeds and ensure dispatch of goods in accordance with dispatch criteria.
● Participate in reviews of quality assurance programs, policies and systems
● Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports for all checks
● Ensure proper document control and management
● Participate in HACCP development, implementation, maintenance, and improvements
● Participate in development and improvement of SOPs, documents and records
● Participate in internal inspections on process and system operations as scheduled and follow up on closure of any NCs.
● Verify calibration of measuring/monitoring devices to ensure accurate monitoring results
● Participate in the approval and monitoring of company service providers
● Participate in continuous training of personnel according to the training plan or identified needs
● Participate in assessment and evaluation of monitoring results and trends for system processes and programs
● Follow up on timely maintenance of machines as scheduled or as required and ensure hygiene clearance after maintenance.
● Conduct checks on PRPs as required and follow up on actions on any deviations to ensure maintenance
● Ensure proper segregation and handling of non-conforming products
● Participate in application of product TCs and COIs and follow up on timely approval and issuance of the certificates
● Ensure maintenance of product traceability and participate in periodic traceability and mass balance tests.
