Senior Systems Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their Gauteng-based technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled infrastructure professional to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex cloud, virtualized, and hybrid environments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring system reliability, security, scalability, and operational excellence while providing technical leadership across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
• Manage and optimize cloud and virtualized environments across AWS, Azure, VMware, and hybrid platforms
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance, reliability, and availability
• Implement and maintain containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Ensure infrastructure security, scalability, and resilience across production environments
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve deployment processes and workflows
• Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to infrastructure and operations teams

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Senior Systems Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar role
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Experience managing AWS EC2, VMware, and Azure Virtual Machines
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, or a similar scripting language
• Strong understanding of networking, compute, and storage concepts
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Hybrid and multi-cloud environments
• Infrastructure security and identity management
• Monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack
• Cost optimization and performance tuning
• Leading technical teams and mentoring engineers
