Job Purpose
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities during assigned shifts to ensure efficient operations, product quality, safety compliance, and achievement of production targets. The role supervises production staff, coordinates workflow, monitors equipment performance, and ensures that factory operations run smoothly in accordance with company standards and food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Production Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate production activities during assigned shifts.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and deadlines are achieved.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities to production operators and factory workers.
- Ensure smooth handover between shifts and maintain continuity of operations.
Staff Management
- Lead, motivate, and supervise shift employees to maintain high productivity and discipline.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and performance during shifts.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to production staff.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication among employees.
- Address minor employee concerns and escalate major issues to management where necessary.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure products meet company quality standards and food safety requirements.
- Monitor adherence to hygiene, sanitation, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Report any quality deviations or production defects immediately.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain compliance standards.
Equipment & Operations Monitoring
- Monitor machinery and equipment performance during production.
- Report equipment faults or maintenance needs promptly.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel during machine breakdowns or repairs.
- Ensure proper use of machinery and production tools by staff.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce workplace health and safety procedures during shifts.
- Ensure employees use appropriate protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct routine safety checks within the production area.
- Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and operational logs.
- Monitor raw material usage and minimize wastage.
- Prepare daily shift performance reports for management review.
- Report production challenges and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Production Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- Over 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is an added advantage.
