We are a leading technology consulting company partnering with a client who is looking for a skilled Test Engineer to join their dynamic Testing team on an initial 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, agile environment alongside software engineers, business analysts, and data engineers, contributing to both business-as-usual (BAU) enhancements and innovative, complex features within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of APIs and system enhancements through functional, system integration, and regression testing. You will play a key role in delivering robust, automation-ready solutions that align with CI/CD pipeline practices.

What you'll do:

  • Perform functional testing (white-box and black-box), system integration testing, and regression testing aligned to the product backlog

  • Identify test scenarios suitable for automation and support Shift Left testing practices

  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, and test teams to review requirements, use cases, and workflows

  • Develop and maintain test scenarios, scripts, and test cases

  • Conduct test planning and effort estimation

  • Monitor automation pipelines, investigating failures to determine root cause (defects vs. test data issues)

  • Ensure APIs are validated and prepared for automation and CI/CD integration

  • Document and track defects, including clear replication steps and system error analysis

Skills & Experience Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualification

  • 5+ years’ experience in software testing

  • Proven experience in system integration testing

  • Strong understanding of test planning, design, and analysis

  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g., SoapUI, Postman, Swagger)

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Hudson, Azure DevOps)

  • Strong SQL querying skills (SQL Server, Oracle, or similar)

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or JavaScript (advantageous)

  • Familiarity with API protocols and validation testing

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or TFS (including test management and pipelines)

  • ISTQB Foundation Certification (essential)
