UV Coater Operator

Key Responsibilities

• Operate UV coating machinery to achieve the highest production and finishing quality standards

• Apply UV coatings according to customer specifications and production requirements

• Ensure proper coating adhesion, gloss levels, texture, and curing performance

• Set up coating units, rollers, blankets, pumps, and UV lamps correctly

• Adjust coating thicknesses and curing settings to ensure optimal results

• Conduct machine make-readies and job changeovers efficiently

• Monitor UV lamp performance and replace lamps when required

• Ensure substrates are correctly aligned and fed through the machine

• Maintain coating consistency throughout production runs

• Minimise coating defects, waste, and machine downtime

• Perform first-off approvals before production commences

• Conduct continuous inspections during production to ensure coating quality standards are met

• Identify and rectify coating defects immediately

• Ensure all finished products comply with customer specifications and quality standards

• Complete quality documentation and production records accurately

• Conduct daily cleaning of coating units, rollers, trays, and UV systems

• Perform preventative maintenance checks on UV coater equipment

• Report mechanical or electrical issues immediately

• Ensure coatings, varnishes, solvents, and consumables are stored safely and correctly

• Maintain a clean and safe production environment at all times

• Accurately complete all production paperwork and shift reports

• Record downtime, waste, coating usage, and production outputs

• Conduct detailed shift handovers to incoming operators

• Work closely with printing, finishing, and quality departments to ensure production targets are achieved

• Conduct daily safety inspections before shift commencement

• Ensure compliance with all company safety, quality, and operational standards

• Follow all safe handling procedures relating to UV coatings, chemicals, and solvents

• Ensure all machine guards and safety systems are fully operational

• Stop production immediately should quality or safety concerns arise
