About the Role: Area Supervisor Production Jobs in Solwezi
As an Area Supervisor in the Load and Haul section, you will oversee daily operations within a designated work area, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective deployment of personnel and equipment. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, Production – Rompad, you will lead operators and assistant production staff to meet shift production targets while maintaining strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, finance, and human resource policies and regulations relevant to the role.
- Supervise operators and assistants to guarantee effective execution of load and haul tasks within assigned areas.
- Allocate and monitor equipment usage to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
- Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections and briefings to communicate operational plans, safety alerts, and updates.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices in line with risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Identify and resolve operational issues or equipment inefficiencies, escalating to the Shift Supervisor when necessary.
- Motivate and guide team members to sustain high productivity, discipline, and collaboration.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and output.
- Maintain accurate records of shift activities, equipment performance, and personnel attendance.
- Coordinate with maintenance and support teams for timely repairs and servicing of equipment.
- Perform additional duties as required to support production objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Diploma or Certificate in Mining, Mineral Science, or a related field.
- Valid Blasting License and First Aid Certificate.
- Driver’s License.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of open-pit mining experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy mining equipment such as trucks, loaders, excavators, and dozers.
- Good understanding of production scheduling, equipment utilization, and safety standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to resolve operational challenges effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent in basic computer applications and mining-related software systems.
