Assistant Accountant

Role Description

• The Assistant Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja, supporting the finance team with day-to-day accounting operations.
• Responsibilities include recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and preparing basic reconciliations and financial reports.
• The role also involves supporting month-end and year-end closing activities, organizing financial documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting standards.
• The Assistant Accountant will collaborate closely with senior finance staff, respond to internal queries, and help maintain accurate, timely financial records to support decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including experience with general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and basic financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software and productivity tools e.g., Excel/Spreadsheets, ERP or accounting systems, with the ability to learn new tools quickly.
• Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and maintain professional relationships.
• Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
• Relevant educational background, such as a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification or progress toward certification e.g., ICAN, ACA, ACCA is an advantage.
• Prior experience in an accounting or finance support role, ideally in a manufacturing, FMCG, or sustainability-focused organization, is beneficial.
• Genuine interest in sustainability and alignment with TPPC’s mission to reduce plastic pollution through responsible packaging solutions.
