As a boarding school cook you will prepare nutritious, bulk meals for students and staff while strictly adhering to food safety, hygiene, and dietary guidelines. This role involves menu planning, large-scale ingredient preparation, inventory management, and maintaining a spotless kitchen, often requiring early morning, evening, or weekend shift work.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Plan and cook balanced, high-quality, and appealing meals for large groups of students and faculty.
- Dietary Accommodations: Modify recipes and prepare alternative options for students with allergies, religious dietary restrictions, or medical needs.
- Safety & Sanitation: Maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards. This includes proper food storage, temperature control, and rigorous cleaning of the kitchen, dining hall, and equipment.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Assist with receiving food deliveries, monitoring stock levels, and reducing food waste.
- Collaboration: Work alongside the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to coordinate meal prep times that align with the school’s daily bell schedule
