The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, production teams, and draughting personnel to develop practical, innovative, and cost-effective engineering designs that support the manufacture of medium to heavy machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and design mechanical systems, assemblies, and components suitable for manufacturing in medium to heavy engineering applications.
- Perform engineering calculations, design analysis, and concept development to ensure functional, safe, and efficient solutions.
- Generate and review 3D models, design layouts, and technical documentation for use by draughting and production teams.
- Collaborate with draughtsman to ensure designs are accurately translated into production-ready drawings.
- Work closely with production and project teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing, cost, and timeline requirements.
- Design and integrate hydraulic systems and components, ensuring functionality, serviceability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Review and improve existing designs based on engineering changes, production feedback, and quality requirements.
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), design specifications, and supporting technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in design efficiency, product performance, and manufacturing methods.
Requirements:- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience as a Design Engineer in a medium to heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components.
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, laser cutting, bending, and mechanical assembly.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, design validation, and problem-solving in practical manufacturing applications.
- Good communication and collaboration skills across engineering, drafting, and production teams.
