DIESEL PLANT FITTER – YELLOW MACHINES
We are inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and self-motivated individuals to fill the position of Diesel Plant Fitter. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls of heavy earthmoving and construction equipment to ensure maximum equipment availability, reliability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine, preventive, and planned maintenance in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly and complete repairs within agreed turnaround times while maintaining high quality standards.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic faults on heavy equipment.
Perform repairs, rebuilds, and overhauls of engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulic systems, and other major assemblies.
Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately on the same day work is performed.

Monitor spare parts requirements, conduct stock checks, and liaise with Stores and Procurement to ensure parts availability.
Supervise, coach, and train apprentices and junior artisans.
Read and interpret workshop manuals, technical drawings, and service information.
Ensure compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Maintain high housekeeping standards within the workshop.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
National Certificate in Diesel Plant Fitting.
Apprentice-trained Journeyman Diesel Plant Fitter with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience, or
Class 1 Trade Tested Diesel Plant Fitter with a minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience.
Proven experience servicing Volvo, CASE, Shantui, XGMA, or similar heavy earthmoving equipment.
Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, steering systems, powertrains, and electronic diagnostic systems.
Ability to read and correctly interpret technical manuals and service literature.
