Job Summary
- The Gateway Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the logistics gateway, ensuring the efficient receipt, sorting, dispatch, and movement of shipments.
- The role involves supervising operational staff, maintaining service standards, ensuring compliance with company policies, and driving operational efficiency to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management:
- Supervise daily gateway operations, including inbound and outbound shipment processing.
- Ensure accurate sorting, scanning, loading, and dispatch of shipments within agreed timelines.
- Monitor shipment movement and promptly escalate operational issues or delays.
- Ensure all operational processes comply with company standards and service level agreements SLAs.
- Coordinate with hubs, branches, fleet teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless shipment movement.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of gateway staff.
- Assign duties and monitor staff productivity and performance.
- Conduct regular team briefings and ensure adherence to operational procedures.
- Identify training needs and support staff development initiatives.
- Promote a positive, disciplined, and safety-conscious work environment.
Inventory & Asset Management:
- Monitor and account for all shipments, equipment, and operational assets within the gateway.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of shipment discrepancies, damages, or losses.
- Maintain proper records of operational activities and stock levels where applicable.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and security procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
- Report incidents, accidents, and security breaches promptly.
- Ensure adherence to quality control and risk management processes.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Monitor operational KPIs such as dispatch accuracy, turnaround time, shipment integrity, and productivity.
- Analyze operational data and recommend process improvements.
- Support management in implementing operational excellence initiatives.
Key Performance Indicators KPIs
- On-time shipment dispatch rate.
- Shipment sorting and scanning accuracy.
- Gateway turnaround time.
- Shipment loss and damage rate.
- Staff productivity and attendance.
- Compliance with operational and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in logistics, transportation, courier, or supply chain operations.
- At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with logistics management systems and shipment tracking platforms is an advantage.
