The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. The position requires extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and servicing of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
Repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, and suspension systems.
Inspect equipment and identify potential defects or safety hazards.
Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
Repair and replace worn or damaged components.
Maintain service and repair records for all equipment.
Conduct equipment testing following repairs to ensure proper functionality.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair requests.
