Lecturer – Nursing (x1)
Location: Kitwe Campus
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate with Five (5) O’levels.
- Minimum of Master’s Degree in Nursing / Health Sciences.
- BSc in Nursing.
- PhD is an added advantage.
- Midwifery or Theater Certifications are added advantages.
- Valid practicing license from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).
- Certified and ZAQA-verified academic and professional qualifications.
- At least three (03) years of demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
Job Purpose
To make a significant contribution to all activities of the organizational unit or inter-disciplinary area and play a significant role within his/her profession or discipline. Assist the Department Chairperson in the interpretation, application and achievement of the objectives, policies and regulations of the department. He/she will be responsible for all teaching and non-teaching duties assigned to him/her by the supervisor. He/she shall maintain a high level of professionalism in executing his/her teaching duties.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for classroom teaching and be directly in charge of the educational processes in his or her courses.
- Teach at least one course at post graduate level in his/her field of study if in possession of a PhD.
- Supervision of research activities in the program.
- Teach competently such courses as may be assigned by the chairperson.
- Lead students in meaningful learning experiences.
- Prepare and supervise/administer examinations.
- Serve as a student advisor as assigned by the Chairperson or Dean of the school.
- Serve as a programme coordinator as assigned by the Chairperson or Dean of the school.
- Serve on committees as may be assigned by management.
- Serve as faculty advisor to a student organization when assigned by the administration.
- Manage all the classroom guest speakers, films, videos and other programmes, ensuring they meet the ethical and spiritual standards of the university.
- Attend faculty meetings, departmental meetings, general assemblies, graduation exercises, and other designated university functions regularly.
- Carry out any activity assigned by supervisors.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the subject area, combined with a broad subject background, enables contributions to teaching programmes.
- Ability to supervise and evaluate students in Nursing.
- Knowledge of laboratory and audio/visual aids.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to teach and supervise undergraduate academic work.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work with strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
