Employment Information

We are seeking a highly capable GMR2 Production & Engineering Superintendent to oversee end-to-end plant operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment in Worcester. The successful incumbent will carry responsibility for production output, warehouse operations, and engineering compliance, ensuring optimal plant performance, safety, and efficiency.

 

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong electrical engineering background, with the ability to operate effectively within a unionised FMCG manufacturing environment. The role combines production management with statutory GMR2 accountability, making it critical for the incumbent to ensure plant reliability, equipment uptime, and adherence to all safety and ISO standards.

 

The ideal candidate will be experienced in driving continuous improvement, downtime reduction, bottleneck elimination, and cost efficiency initiatives, while leading production supervisors and warehouse teams to meet operational KPIs.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Operations & Production Management

  • Oversee daily production, warehouse, and bagging operations
  • Ensure production targets, throughput, and efficiency KPIs are met
  • Collaborate with planning, technical, and customer service teams
  • Conduct capacity planning and bottleneck identification
  • Manage stock rotation (FIFO) and control of slow-moving or expired stock
  • Drive cost reduction and waste elimination initiatives
  • Plan and coordinate scheduled production downtime

 

Engineering & Maintenance Oversight (GMR2 Accountability)

  • Assume responsibility for GMR2 statutory compliance and plant safety
  • Oversee plant electrical systems, equipment reliability, and maintenance coordination
  • Support fault-finding and technical problem-solving within the plant
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and shutdown schedules
  • Contribute to engineering improvement and capital projects

 

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9000, 22000, 14000, and 18000 standards
  • Maintain adherence to the integrated management system
  • Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance across operations
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure ISO training is scheduled, recorded, and maintained

 

Leadership & People Management

  • Manage production supervisors and warehouse teams to achieve KPIs
  • Lead within a unionised environment and ensure effective employee relations
  • Apply disciplinary procedures in line with legislation and company policy
  • Drive performance management, accountability, and team development

Financial & Performance Management

  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives across production and warehouse operations
  • Monitor and report on operational performance metrics
  • Support budgeting and cost control initiatives

 

Systems & Reporting

  • Utilize MS Office, SAP, and OnKey systems for reporting and operational tracking
  • Ensure accurate reporting of production outputs, downtime, and performance data
