Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor QS is responsible for managing all costs relating to architectural, interior fit-out, and workspace design projects from inception to completion. The role ensures projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the required quality standards. The Quantity Surveyor provides cost advice, prepares bills of quantities, manages procurement processes, evaluates contractors' claims, and monitors project expenditures to maximize value for money.
Job Description-
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates and project budgets based on design concepts and client requirements.
- Develop detailed cost plans for architectural, interior fit-out, and workspace projects.
- Conduct cost analyses to ensure projects remain financially viable.
- Advise management and clients on cost-effective design alternatives and material selections.
- Monitor project budgets and provide regular cost reports.
- Prepare contract documents and commercial agreements.
- Review contracts to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Administer subcontractor agreements and monitor contractual obligations.
- Advise on claims, disputes, and contractual matters.
- Ensure all variations are properly documented and approved
- Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Assess cost implications of design changes and additional works.
- Conduct regular site visits to verify work progress and quantities executed.

- Project Managers
- Site Engineers
- Procurement Team
- Contractors and Subcontractors
- Monitor project performance from a commercial perspective.
- Provide cost advice during project execution.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in:
- Quantity Surveying
- Building Technology
- Construction Management
- Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional certification is an added advantage:
- Registered Quantity Surveyor RQS
- Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors NIQS
- Registration with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria QSRBN
Experience
- Minimum of 4–7 years relevant experience.
- Proven experience in:
- Architectural projects
- Interior fit-out projects
- Workspace and office design projects
- Commercial and residential construction
- Experience in furniture, joinery, and office fit-out costing is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel Advanced
- Microsoft Project
- AutoCAD for reading drawings
- CostX or similar quantity take-off software
- Planswift
- Bluebeam Revu
- Revit basic understanding
- ERP or procurement management software
Required Competencies
- Excellent cost estimation and budgeting skills.
