Introduction
Komatsu South Africa is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Accounts Officer: Foreign Creditors to join our Financial Planning & Treasury team. This role is responsible for managing foreign creditor payments, reconciliations, exchange control compliance, and foreign currency transactions while ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and company policies.
The ideal candidate will have strong creditors experience, exposure to foreign supplier payments, and a sound understanding of exchange control regulations and international banking requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Foreign Creditors Administration
- Process foreign creditor payments accurately and within agreed supplier payment terms.
- Convert foreign exchange values into South African Rand.
- Prepare batch payments, online manual payments, and SAP pull-through payments.
- Execute drawdowns for CFC funding.
- Verify and process remittance advices and payment schedules.
- Submit forward cover contracts for payment utilisation.
- Allocate payments to foreign creditor accounts.
- Record and maintain payment and creditor transaction details.
- Resolve payment-related queries with suppliers, PDC, Marketing, and internal stakeholders.
- Review source documents for manual payments and ensure compliance with banking requirements.
- Arrange endorsements of documents with banking institutions where required.
- Resolve SWIFT claims and related foreign payment issues.
Reconciliations and Reporting
- Perform creditor reconciliations and General Ledger reconciliations.
- Conduct monthly revaluation of foreign creditors.
- Maintain Goods-in-Transit (GIT) schedules.
- Monitor due payments and report outstanding balances.
- Provide input into foreign exchange payable reporting.
- Identify and escalate potential exchange control risks.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance with Exchange Control regulations and foreign exchange requirements.
- Stay abreast of changes in Exchange Control legislation and banking requirements.
- Submit cross-border payments for approval and authorisation.
- Maintain accurate physical and electronic audit records.
- Verify data integrity and accuracy of all creditor transactions.
- Liaise with Standard Bank, South African Reserve Bank, Treasury, and Exchange Control specialists on foreign exchange matters.
