An Assistant Store Keeper supports the Store Manager or Store Keeper in overseeing daily warehouse operations. They are responsible for accurately tracking raw materials, components, and finished goods, ensuring efficient inventory flow between the warehouse and the production floor, and maintaining strict safety and compliance standards.
Detail Responsibilities
1. Receiving and Dispatching
Receive, unload, and inspect incoming raw materials and parts against delivery notes and purchase orders to verify quantity and quality.
Safely store items in designated warehouse zones based on material category, size, and weight.
Issue raw materials and supplies to the manufacturing and production teams based on authorized requisition forms.
Prepare finished goods for dispatch to customers or distributors, ensuring accurate packing and labeling.
2. Inventory Control and Documentation
Maintain accurate, real-time stock records and update inventory databases or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Monitor minimum stock levels and alert the Store Keeper when supplies are running low to prevent production downtime.
Participate in regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits.
Ensure that the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method is applied to prevent material spoilage or obsolescence.
3. Warehouse Safety and Maintenance
Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment, strictly restricting access to unauthorized personnel.
Enforce health and safety protocols (e.g., proper stacking, wearing Personal Protective Equipment, and handling hazardous materials correctly).
Perform routine inspections of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and shelving units.
