Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Operation
- Operate CNC milling machines to manufacture components according to specifications.
- Load and unload materials and workpieces.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure product quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform machine setups and tool changes as required.
- Adjust machine offsets and parameters within approved limits.
- Ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
Quality Control- Inspect completed components using precision measuring instruments.
- Verify dimensions against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Identify defects and report non-conformances.
- Maintain quality standards throughout the production process.
- Complete inspection records and production documentation.
Production Support- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures.
- Assist with process improvements and productivity initiatives.
- Minimise material waste and machine downtime.
Machine Maintenance- Perform routine machine cleaning and preventative maintenance.
- Report machine faults and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery at all times.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Follow safe machine operating procedures.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Minimum Qualifications- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Trade Test in Machining or equivalent qualification advantageous.
- CNC Machining certification advantageous.
Experience- 2–5 years' experience operating CNC milling machines.
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Haas, or similar control systems advantageous.
Technical Skills- CNC machine operation.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Precision measurement techniques.
- Use of micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and measuring equipment.
- Understanding of machining processes and tooling.
- Basic CNC programming knowledge advantageous.
