The Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency (CSAT) has embarked on the implementation of its new Strategic Plan (2025–2030). In response to the organisation’s evolving needs and growing demands, CSAT is inviting applications from suitably qualified and passionate individuals to fill newly created positions aimed at strengthening the delivery of its mission and strategic objectives.

Position: Communication and Digital Advocacy Officer (Grade GS4)

Reports to: Director of Programs and Policy
Duty Station: CSAT Head Office, Lilongwe

Purpose

To lead CSAT’s strategic communications, media engagement, branding, and digital advocacy initiatives by enhancing organizational visibility, strengthening public engagement, and promoting evidence-based advocacy through effective communication platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement organizational communication and visibility strategies.
  • Manage media relations and coordinate public communication initiatives.
  • Prepare and publish press statements, articles, newsletters, reports, and other communication materials.
  • Manage and regularly update CSAT’s website and social media platforms.
  • Design and implement digital advocacy and public awareness campaigns.
  • Support the dissemination of research findings, policy briefs, and advocacy products.
  • Develop high-quality communication materials, case studies, success stories, and multimedia content.
  • Monitor media coverage, public discourse, and emerging communication trends.
  • Strengthen CSAT’s corporate branding and organizational visibility.
  • Support stakeholder engagement, public awareness, and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Digital Media, Marketing, ICT, Development Communication, or a related field. A Master’s Degree and relevant professional certification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in strategic communications, media relations, digital advocacy, or public relations, preferably within the NGO, development, government, or private sector.
  • Proven experience in communication strategy development, digital platform management, media engagement, advocacy, branding, and production of high-quality communication and multimedia content.
  • Strong knowledge of website content management systems (CMS), digital analytics, event management, and donor communication requirements. Experience in governance or development programming will be an added advantage.

  • Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, presentation, and public speaking abilities.
  • Proficiency in digital communications, social media management, website administration, and multimedia production.
  • Ability to develop and implement integrated communication, branding, and advocacy strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using communication metrics to improve outreach, visibility, and campaign performance.
  • Knowledge of behaviour change communication, citizen engagement, and public awareness campaigns.
  • Strong project planning, event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
  • Creative, innovative, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, teamwork, and commitment to transparency, accountability, inclusion, safeguarding, and continuous learning.
