JOB SUMMARY
The Driver is
responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services
for the Sales Representatives during field sales operations and customer
visits. The role involves transporting seed stock to various market locations,
ensuring the safety and protection of seed products during transit, maintaining
the assigned vehicle in good condition, and supporting smooth field operations
in line with company standards and road safety regulations.
JOB PURPOSE
To support the
company’s sales and distribution activities through safe transportation of
Sales Representatives, seed stock, and operational materials while ensuring
proper handling, protection, and accountability of company products and assets
during field sales activities.
ROLES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation
& Field Sales Support
·
Safely
transport Sales Representatives to field locations, customer visits, market
activations, demonstrations, and sales routes.
·
Ensure timely movement of staff and products
to support daily sales operations and field schedules.
·
Drive
to various territories including rural and urban farming areas to facilitate
field sales activities.
·
Ensure professionalism, courtesy, and
discipline while interacting with customers, farmers, distributors, and other
stakeholders during field operations.
Seed Stock
Handling & Protection
·
Ensure
all seed stock loaded onto the vehicle is well arranged, secured, and protected
from damage, moisture, contamination, theft, or loss during transportation.
·
Monitor the condition and safety of seed
products throughout the journey and during field movements.
·
Verify
stock quantities against dispatch notes and delivery documents before departure
and upon delivery.
·
Ensure
proper handling during loading and offloading to maintain seed quality and
packaging standards.
·
Safeguard
company stock, promotional materials, and equipment entrusted to the vehicle at
all times.
Vehicle
Maintenance & Compliance
·
Conduct
daily vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness and
safety.
·
Ensure
the assigned vehicle is clean, fueled, and properly maintained at all times.
·
Report
any mechanical faults, damages, or service requirements immediately to
management.
·
Monitor
service schedules and coordinate timely servicing and repairs.
·
Ensure
all vehicle documents including insurance, driving permit, and licenses are
valid and up to date.
·
Adhere
strictly to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company transport
policies.
Record
Keeping & Accountability
·
Maintain
accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage records, fuel consumption records, and trip
reports.
·
Ensure
all delivery notes, stock movement documents, and transport records are
properly completed and signed.
·
Report
accidents, breakdowns, delays, or security incidents immediately to management.
·
Maintain
accountability for company assets, vehicle accessories, and transported stock.
General
Operational Support
·
Assist
in loading and offloading seed stock and promotional materials where necessary.
·
Support
operational activities assigned by management in line with company objectives.
·
Ensure
confidentiality and proper care of company property during field assignments.
JOB
REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
·
Uganda
Certificate of Education (UCE) or Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education
(UACE).
·
Valid
driving permit with relevant driving classes.
·
Minimum
3 years of driving experience, preferably in agriculture, seed distribution, or
field sales operations.
·
Experience
driving in both urban and rural areas across Uganda.
·
Basic
mechanical knowledge and ability to identify minor vehicle faults.
·
Experience
supporting field sales operations is an added advantage.

KEY
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
·
Ensure
timely and reliable transportation of Sales Representatives, seed stock, and
operational materials to support field sales activities and customer
engagements.
·
Maintain
safe handling, proper arrangement, and secure transportation of seed products
to minimize damage, contamination, loss, or theft during transit.
·
Consistently
comply with road safety regulations, company transport policies, and defensive
driving standards while carrying out assigned duties.
·
Maintain
the assigned vehicle in a clean, roadworthy, and well-maintained condition
through regular inspections and timely reporting of mechanical issues.
·
Ensure
accurate and timely completion of vehicle logbooks, fuel records, delivery
notes, and stock movement documentation.
·
Support
efficient field operations by ensuring the timely movement of staff and products
according to planned schedules and routes.
·
Minimize
vehicle downtime, preventable accidents, and transport-related incidents
through responsible driving and proper vehicle care.
·
Demonstrate
accountability and professionalism in safeguarding company assets, seed stock,
vehicle accessories, and transport documents at all times.
