JOB PURPOSE
The Sales
Representative is responsible for driving sales growth through customer
acquisition, relationship management, market expansion, and promotion of
agricultural products, particularly in the horticulture sector. The role
involves field visits, customer support, product demonstrations, market
intelligence gathering, and ensuring excellent customer service to farmers and
agribusiness clients.
ROLES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales &
Business Development
·
Promote
and sell the company’s agricultural and horticultural products to farmers,
agro-dealers, distributors, and institutional clients.
·
Identify
and develop new business opportunities within assigned territories.
·
Achieve
monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets set by management.
·
Conduct
market visits to generate leads and expand the customer base.
·
Build
and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.
·
Follow
up on customer inquiries, quotations, and orders to ensure timely closure of
sales.
·
Provide
professional customer service and technical support to clients.
·
Educate
farmers and customers on proper product usage, application methods, and best
agricultural practices.
·
Handle
customer complaints and resolve issues promptly to maintain customer
satisfaction.
·
Conduct
regular customer visits to strengthen relationships and monitor product
performance.
·
Monitor
market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences within the
agriculture and horticulture industry.
·
Collect
and share market feedback to support product improvement and business
strategies.
·
Prepare
daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports for management review.
·
Maintain
accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and field visits.
·
Organize
and participate in product demonstrations, agricultural exhibitions, trade
shows, and farmer training sessions.
·
Promote
brand awareness through field marketing activities and campaigns.
·
Support
the marketing team in implementing promotional activities and product launches.
·
Receive
and process customer orders accurately and in a timely manner.
·
Follow
up on deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.
·
Monitor
customer payments and support debt collection efforts where necessary.
·
Ensure
proper documentation of sales transactions and customer records.
·
Plan
and manage field routes efficiently to maximize customer coverage.
·
Ensure
visibility and availability of products within the assigned territory.
·
Maintain
strong relationships with distributors, stockists, and agro-input shops.
JOB
REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
·
Bachelor’s
degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Sales &
Marketing, or a related field.
·
Minimum
2 years of experience in agricultural sales, preferably in horticulture
products.
·
Strong understanding of horticulture farming
practices and agricultural inputs.
·
Experience
working with farmers, agro-dealers, and agricultural distribution networks.
·
Proficiency
in Microsoft Office applications and outlook
·
Valid
driving permit is a must

Key
Performance Indicators
·
Achieve
at least 90–100% of assigned monthly, quarterly, and seasonal sales targets.
·
Deliver
consistent growth in sales volume within the assigned territory each season.
·
Increase
active customer accounts within the assigned territory by an agreed target per
quarter.
·
Ensure
availability and distribution of company seed products in key agro-dealer
outlets and customer locations within the territory.
·
Acquire
a minimum of 30-40 new farmers, agro-dealers, or customers per month.
·
Conduct
at least 15–20 customer visits or follow-up engagements per week.
·
Maintain
strong customer relationships with timely response to customer inquiries and
complaints.
·
Maintain updated customer records and sales
pipeline reports with accuracy.
·
Conduct
a minimum of 4–5 field days, demonstrations, or farmer training activities per week.
·
Support the establishment and monitoring of at least 3 demonstration plots per season
within assigned territories.
·
Achieve
regular market coverage according to approved field schedules and routes.
·
Visit
assigned agro-dealers, distributors, and farmer groups consistently to
strengthen market presence and product visibility.
·
Provide
basic agronomic support and product knowledge to farmers during field visits
and demonstrations.
·
Conduct
regular follow-ups on crop performance and farmer adoption of company seed
varieties.
·
Report
major crop performance issues, pest outbreaks, or customer concerns within
24–48 hours of identification.
·
Support
increased farmer awareness and adoption of recommended agronomic practices and
seed products.
·
Submit
100% of daily, weekly, and monthly reports within agreed timelines Provide
monthly market intelligence reports covering competitor activities, pricing,
customer feedback, and market opportunities.
·
Maintain
accurate records of customer engagements, orders, field activities, and stock
movement.
·
Ensure timely reporting and resolution of
customer complaints and field-related issue
