Responsibilities:
Farm Operations:
- Plan, organise, and supervise daily farm activities.
- Oversee land preparation, planting, irrigation, spraying, fertilisation, weed control, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
- Ensure timely execution of all farm operations according to crop calendars and production targets.
- Manage field productivity, crop health, and yield optimisation.
Team Management:
- Supervise supervisors, field operators, machine operators, and casual labour teams.
- Recruit, train, discipline, and motivate farm personnel.
- Allocate manpower efficiently across farm units.
- Enforce staff productivity and accountability standards.
Crop & Agronomy Management:
- Monitor crop performance and implement best agronomic practices.
- Develop pest, disease, and weed management programs.
- Coordinate irrigation, drainage, soil fertility, and nutrient management.
- Identify operational issues and implement corrective actions quickly.
Machinery & Input Management:
- Supervise tractors, sprayers, irrigation systems, and farm equipment.
- Monitor usage of fertilizers, chemicals, seeds, fuel, and farm supplies.
- Reduce wastage, theft, and operational losses.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment.
Administration & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of field operations, labour, yields, inputs, and expenses.
- Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports.
- Develop production plans, budgets, and performance tracking systems.
- Support management decision-making through data and operational analysis.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure adherence to farm safety procedures and environmental standards.
- Promote good agricultural practices and responsible chemical handling.
- Maintain security, order, and discipline within farm operations.
Requirements:
- HND in agriculture, agronomy, crop science, agricultural engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience managing commercial crop farming operations.
- Strong knowledge of large-scale field crop production.
- Experience with irrigation systems, tractors, sprayers, and mechanised farming.
- Strong leadership, staff management, and organisational skills.
- Good understanding of budgeting, record-keeping, and operational reporting.
- Ability to live and work in a farm environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic farm record systems is an advantage.
Preferred Experience:
- Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will have an advantage:
- Pawpaw Production
- Cassava production
- Oil palm plantation management
- Vegetable/open-field production
- Drip irrigation systems
- Commercial agribusiness operations
Location: Edda, Ebonyi State, Nigeria
Remuneration: NGN 400,000 – 600,000 Monthly (negotiable based on experience and performance).
