Job Summary
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial accounting, trade finance operations, treasury management, and corporate compliance. The role ensures robust financial controls and data integrity within SAP, manages capital-intensive import and Letter of Credit (LC) transactions, optimizes working capital facilities, and provides accurate management reporting to support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Import Purchases & Trade Finance
Lead and coordinate the accounting team in executing financial responsibilities.
Maintain comprehensive records of imports in process, Letters of Credit, and foreign payments.
Coordinate with banks, customs authorities, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Verify customs duties, import costs, and landed costing calculations.
Monitor vendor settlements and reconcile transactions in SAP.
Ensure proper documentation and record management for import files.
Banking & Treasury Management
Plan and manage LC applications and import payments.
Monitor loan facilities, repayment schedules, and banking transactions.
Prepare bank correspondence for payments, transfers, and financing arrangements.
Supervise bank reconciliations and cash flow activities.
Coordinate working capital and term loan applications with financial institutions.
Maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
Financial Accounting & Controls
Verify and approve payment vouchers and SAP transactions.
Ensure accurate posting of import costs and inventory transactions.
Review General Ledger balances and reconcile control accounts.
Monitor financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
Conduct material cost analysis and financial performance reviews.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare weekly and monthly management reports.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable aging.
Ensure timely VAT and withholding tax claims and compliance.
Coordinate external and internal audits.
Develop MIS reports and provide financial insights to management.
Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and reporting.
