Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the mining operation
- Act as the 2.6.1 Appointee in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Ensure compliance with MHSA, Minerals Act, and other relevant legislation
- Oversee mine production, safety, engineering, and operational performance
- Manage budgets, production targets, and cost controls
- Lead and develop operational and technical teams
- Ensure proper implementation of mine planning and production schedules
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, contractors, and stakeholders
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture
- Statutory Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to hold the following appointments:
2.6.1 – General Manager
3.1 – Mine Manager
2.13.1 – Responsible person for Mechanical Equipment
2.13.3 – Responsible person for Electrical Equipment
Minimum Requirements:- Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines)
- Minimum 10 years mining experience
- At least 5 years in senior management within opencast mining
- Strong knowledge of MHSA and statutory requirements
