Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 1-4 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan HSE legislation, including OSHA 2007, WIBA, and EMCA requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in HSE audits and inspections, risk assessment, hazard identification, and control measures
  • Knowledge of incident investigation, reporting procedures, and corrective action implementation
  • Training in fire safety, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, or environmental management is an added advantage
  • Strong communication, employee training, documentation, and report-writing skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory HSE requirements, conduct inspections, risk assessments, and audits, and promote safe work practices across the facility.
  • Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness: Investigate incidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions, and coordinate emergency response programs, fire drills, and evacuation exercises.
  • Training & Employee Awareness: Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs to strengthen safety culture and employee engagement.
  • Environmental Management: Support environmental compliance initiatives, waste management programs, sustainability efforts, and liaison with relevant regulatory authorities.
