REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education (essential):
- National Senior Certificate
Minimum applicable experience (years):- Minimum 8 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary
Required nature of experience:- Extensive experience in litigation, including High Court processes
- Experience in family law and labour law matters
- Drafting, formatting, and managing legal documentation
- Managing court deadlines, filings, and legal administration
Skills and Knowledge (essential):- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Other:- Proficient in Afrikaans and English
- Own transport and valid license
- Professional, well-presented, and client-facing
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- High level of confidentiality and integrity
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND OBJECTIVES
Litigation Support- Draft and format legal documents and correspondence
- Prepare and manage High Court and other court filings
- Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files
Administrative & Diary Management- Manage attorneys’ diaries, appointments, and court dates
- Coordinate meetings and consultations
- Maintain filing systems (electronic and manual)
- General administrative support.
Client & Stakeholder Liaison- Communicate professionally with clients and counsel
- Liaise with courts and third parties
- Handle queries efficiently and professionally
- Maintain strong client relationships
Document & Case Management- Organise and maintain legal documentation
- Ensure accuracy and proper version control
- Assist with case preparation and bundles
- Monitor progress of matters
Compliance & Confidentiality- Ensure strict confidentiality of all legal matters
- Adhere to firm policies and legal standards
- Always maintain professionalism
- Support overall office efficiency
